Khukuri Handling Guide

The Khukuri is not just a blade — it’s a symbol of honor and craftsmanship. To use it safely and effectively, proper handling is essential.

Drawing the Blade Safely

  • Never wrap your fingers around the scabbard’s opening when drawing the blade.

  • Instead, grip the flat side of the scabbard with your palm and fingers, keeping your fingers away from the opening.

  • Gently slide the blade out following its natural curve — avoid quick or forceful motions.

Sheathing the Blade

  • Always return the Khukuri to its sheath slowly and carefully.

  • Let the blade follow its curved path back into the scabbard to avoid cutting the leather or injuring yourself.

Usage Precautions

  • Always point the blade away from yourself and others during use.

  • Do not use the Khukuri on hard surfaces like stone or metal — this can chip or damage the edge.

  • Avoid using it indoors or around people unfamiliar with its weight or sharpness.

Safety Guidelines

  • Keep the Khukuri out of reach of children.

  • If the handle becomes slippery due to moisture or sweat, dry it immediately or use gloves for better grip.

  • When not in use, store it in a secure location — preferably in a wooden stand, wall hanger, or shelf.
